KENDRA TRIBBLE Kendra blew us away with the number of academic awards she has won, in addition to winning first place in the History Contest. She volunteers at Breast Cancer walks and Jr. Pro Cheer Clinics and also enjoys helping with school activities and functions. If this weren’t enough, she collects coats and jackets in the winter to donate to those in need. Kendra also has a passion for helping her teammates be successful. She likes to lead by example and has the heart and desire to be the best. “I’m in love with the sport and all that it offers.” She said “Being a cheerleader has made me stronger mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally.” Kendra was injured for two months and then had a mental block once she returned. Instead of giving up and stepping down, Kendra refocused her training and vision and defeated the overwhelming obstacle.

KENNEDY JONES – CHEERVILLE ATHLETICS As an infant, Kennedy was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and was predicted to never walk or talk. This amazing twelve-year-old never let that get her down and proved those doctors wrong. She became a cheerleader as a way to get physical therapy in a “fun” way. Kennedy also has epilepsy, which is a huge barrier to her becoming a cheerleader, but throughout the years, she has gained tremendous confidence and made some amazing friends (both her teammates and her coaches). “Kennedy is always ready for practice and loves to try new stunts with Coach Tom!” said her mom. Her favorite stunt is a handstand to liberty.

KHERINGTON BRANSTETTER – INFINITY CHEER TENNESSEE “The gym is my favorite place to be, and the people there are like my family,” Kherington said. When this wannabe coach isn’t in the gym, she is at home making up cheer routines or working on her tumbling. Skills don’t always come easy for Kherignton, but she works endless hours until she gets it right. Her parents taught her that she can do anything she puts her mind to and removed the word “can’t” from her vocabulary a long time ago. “Although she is the youngest cheerleader on her team, she is looked up to as a leader by all of her teammates because of her can-do attitude,” said Coach Brooke Meeker. Kherington is also a member of an anti-bullying campaign and is involved with Shoes 4 Souls.

SAVANNAH BERLIN BYRD – SPIRIT EXPLOSION Every year, around Christmas time, Savannah participates in Shop with a Cop. “I love helping the kids in the program find their favorite gifts, and seeing them leave to go home with smiles on their faces,” she said. Savannah also loves performing in front of crowds; it makes her feel like a star. This ten-year-old likes to set goals for herself and stays focused until she achieves them. Savannah said that one of the biggest obstacles she has had to overcome was learning how to deal with constructive criticism and knowing the difference between the two, constructive and criticism. “I’ve learned that it actually helps me grow into a better athlete,” she explains. One day, Savannah would like to cheer at the University of Louisville and hopes to compete at the USASF Worlds as a Level 6 athlete.
